An independent and integrative counselling service for Bishop's Stortford and the surrounding Hertfordshire and Essex regions

How can counselling help you?

People seek counselling for a variety of reasons, ranging from significant life events to the lasting impact of childhood experiences, whether recent or past. Challenges can also stem from unhelpful thought patterns and ways of living. These difficulties may influence our relationships, work life, physical health, and, most importantly, our emotional wellbeing.

Feelings of low mood, depression, anxiety, anger, stress, loneliness, hopelessness, despair, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, social anxiety, experiences of abuse or neglect, identity issues, intimacy and sexuality concerns, feeling lost, unexpected life events, trauma, bereavement, loss, overwhelming change, separation, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, and questions about life stages are just some of the many reasons people turn to therapy. Thankfully, these issues can often be worked through successfully.

The idea of speaking to a counsellor can be intimidating, and you may wonder if it will truly help. You’re welcome to attend an initial meeting to explore the potential benefits and see how counselling might work for you, with no obligation to continue. This introductory session can also be a good opportunity to discuss how often you would like to meet and the specific issues you want to address.

You may choose to attend just a few sessions, but if you opt for longer-term support, you can always review how the therapy is progressing and your ongoing commitment.
